As a football club committed to social change we bring together the football industry and the Sport for Development sector. This model enables us to change lives off the pitch as well as leading systemic change in the industry, and in 2020 we became the first top flight club in the world to commit to gender equal budgets. We are a registered charity and a social enterprise with offices in Lesotho, the UK and the USA.
How Kick4Life FC Works
Changing lives through football
We are based at the Kick4Life Centre in Maseru, Lesotho’s capital city. This is the home ground of our teams and a hub of social and economic development. We deliver a range of social interventions around health education & life skills, with our flagship programme, the Kick4Life Academy providing vulnerable children & young people with intensive academic support, football coaching and character development, with the aim of supporting participants to genuinely life-changing opportunities at international universities. Through this long-term, holistic approach, we aim to empower young people with the skills and confidence to become change makers and leaders in the long-term sustainable development of Lesotho. We also deliver a wide range of community programmes for vulnerable youth including health education, life-skills development and gender equality. Read about our approach to Child Protection & Safeguarding.
Our work is aligned with three priority Sustainable Development Goals – 3: Good Health & Wellbeing, 4: Quality Education and 5: Gender Equality.
Our players are central to our model. Many of them are current or past participants, health education & life-skills coaches, and powerful role models for our work across Lesotho.
The Club’s No.7 restaurant and Hokahanya Inn & Conference Centre also provide structured training and employment opportunities for our participants.
We also contribute to development beyond Lesotho through our consulting service Kick4Life Assist through which we provide consulting and training to other Sport for Development organisations around the world. This includes curriculum development, monitoring & evaluation and social enterprise.
There are lots of ways that you can support our mission from signing up for one of our Tours to Lesotho, to joining the Kick4Life F.C. Fan Club or by fundraising for our life-changing work. If you’d like to get involved we’d love to hear from you!
‘Kingdom in the Sky’
Lesotho is a beautiful country with a rich history and culture. It also has the worlds second highest prevalence of HIV (23.2%) and more than 160,000 children have been orphaned. This has had a devastating impact on family and community structures, and has dramatically held back the country’s economic development. We aim to embrace the great passion for football in Lesotho to address these issues, helping young people to stay healthy, achieve their potential and contribute to the sustainable development of their country.
