Tanki Seoli’s first half sensational freekick handed Kick4Life a 1-0 win over Lioli and return to winning ways in the Vodacom Premier League on Sunday afternoon in Maputsoe.
It was a much needed victory for Kick4Life who came into this match sitting in the 11th spot after losing to Liphakoe on Thursday. The win takes them to the 9th position. Liteboho Mokhehle returned to the starting XI after missing a clash against Liphakoe.
Coach Motebang Makhetha pushed Seoli upfront once again and his combination with Sanele Phantse and Relebohile Thulo gave Lioli a run for their account. In the middle, Mokoteli Mohapi was marvellous, marshalling Monaheng Velaphi well, resulting in the latter being taken off in the first half.
Teboho Lekhooa caught his former side off-guard in the 16th minute, and he missed with just inches. Sihle Maso pulled a rocket shot in the 22nd minute but Mokhehle was well alert for the possible danger and he saved it. Khangela Zungu could not use the opportunity presented before him in the 31st minute when he found himself in a good space in the box, and he fired wide at goals.
Seoli then punished Lioli for the missed chances before the break, beautifully curling the ball over the wall, and stretching Jessy Matsie at the far post, giving Kick4Life the lead in the 43rd minute.
Kick4Life continued to pose threat against their opponents in the second half and they almost scored their second but Thulo couldn’t connect with Seoli’s pass.
Trio Mohlomi Makhetha, Pontso Khotso and Maphika Matobako were on high alert as they did not give Lioli’s target man, Swithbert Kum any space to strike. Khotso pulled two great blocks late in the game, first denying Kum in the 84th minute, then intercepting the ball with a header moments before the final whistle to keep Kick4Life in the game and clinch 3 points.
