Rodger thrives on pitch and in class
Thabo 'Rodger' Mahlaha, who recently gained promotion into the Kick4Life first team has opened up about his successes both in the classroom and on the field.
Mahlaha joined Kick4Life development team, Juventude from Matlama development where he quickly caught the eye of the senior team coach, Bob Mafoso.
Speaking to Kick4Life media team, Rodger said only hard work and discipline carried him this far.
He recently graduated from the high school level where he performed exceptionally well, obtaining a top7 grade nation-wide.
“I feel so happy to be part of the first team, it’s a great opportunity for every upcoming player to make it into the senior side but for me, football has to go hand in hand with academics. The environment at Kick4Life has motivated me to push harder at school, our coach Molefi Katane encourages us to work hard at school and obtaining top7 is the result of that hard work,” he said.
He further stated that he aspires to acquire university qualification in Mining Engineering while at the same time continuing his football career.
He advised fellow young players to listen to their coaches and parents, stay focused and have a role model in life.
