K4L graduates combine for Roadrunners winner
There were wild celebrations in Sedalia, Missouri, as Kick4Life graduates Mako Makoanyane and Lesia Thetsane combined to give State Fair Community College a dramatic late win.
State Fair Community College men’s and women’s soccer combined for more than 200 minutes of scoreless soccer hosting Barton Community College in its Sedalia home opener.
The Lady Roadrunners played to a scoreless draw and Mako Makoanyane scored his second overtime winner of the season with 22 seconds to play in a 1-0 Roadrunners victory.
After emerging from a celebratory swarm from teammates, the bench and the Roadrunners baseball team – Makoanyane issued a promise perhaps already confirmed to those in attendance Thursday, Aug. 31, outside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
“I’m really proud of the team,” Makoanyane said. “I have a good feeling about this team. I promise Sedalia that we will do well this season.”
The sophomore from Lesotho, Africa, slipped into the penalty box and bodied a Lesia Thetsane header past the Cougar keeper – just the fourth Roadrunner shot on goal.
