K4L & UNICEF hold World Children’s Day event

On Sunday, 20th November 2022, Kick4Life hosted UNICEF Lesotho’s World Children’s Day event where 500 children participated in Football for Good life-skills sessions delivered by K4L coaches. There was also a panel discussion exploring challenges that children face in their daily lives and how these can be addressed. The participants came from a range of partner organisation including schools, orphanages and the Lesotho National League for Visually Impaired Persons (LNLVIP).

During the panel discussion presentations were made by U-Reporters - young people who have been empowered by UNICEF to report on social topics and challenges around the world via the U-Report platform. They interacted with children, discussing topics such as the importance of education, climate change and preventing sexual exploitation.

Kick4Life’s Country Director, Motlatsi Nkhahle, said: "As a children and youth-focused organisation using football to transform lives, it was a doubly auspicious day, for it was both the World Children's Day as well as the first day of the 2022 FIFA World Cup currently taking place in Qatar. We were thrilled to partner with UNICEF on this important day, to raise awareness of challenges facing children and to engage hundreds of children and young people from the local community in health education and life-skills development activities."
