K4L community prepares for London Marathon
On Sunday 3 October 2021, Kick4Life staff, volunteers and supporters will join 50,000 virtual participants to embark on the Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon 2021.
Members of the Kick4Life community from Lesotho, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America are using this initiative to show and pledge their support towards Kick4Life's Football for Good programmes by taking on the 42.2km distance.
Speaking from Lesotho, Mamanti Mapuru who works in the finance department said: "It’s my first time taking part in the marathon, in fact running long distances. I mostly do the indoor work outs but this one will be different, it’s going to be very challenging because it’s new to me. I want to make it through to the finishing point. I have been training and preparing well for the marathon, the first week was hectic when I started running but now I have jelled well. The mood is very high in the office, people are excited and we are just waiting for the day.”
Kick4Life Cofounder Steve Fleming said: "I am looking forward to joining a team here in the UK, and it will be a great feeling to know that my colleagues and friends in Lesotho and the USA will be participating at the same time, all in a shared cause."
