Kick4Life opened the new year in style by beating Galaxy 1-0 to make it six consecutive Econet Premier League wins, thanks to Ralekoti Mokhahlane’s second half free kick.
The win lifted the team to the third position with 24 points, seven wins, three draws and three losses. It was a game of missed chances as Kick4Life were left frustrated when they went into the break still deadlock. However, Mokhahlane’s curler in the 56th minute was enough to hand the team a much needed victory over the Leribe side.
Norman Kumatse did well in the box and found Tseliso Botsane but the latter missed the target in the 11th minute. In the 24th minute, Thejane nearly punished Kick4Life for error at the back.
Towards the half hour mark, Khubetsoana Kamela combined with Bonang Mohapi but Katleho Lebabo was excellent to stop the danger. Moments before the break, Kumatse comfortably controlled the ball in the box and fired at goals, ball went off.
Coach Bob Mafoso made a change right at the start of the second half, bringing Rasetabale Kalosane in place of Kumatse. Then in the 48th minute, veteran Thabo Masualle thought he had given his side the lead with a header but the assistant referee flagged him.
However, it didn’t take long for Kick4Life to break the deadlock as Botsane was brought down in front of the goals and Mokhahlane scored.
Galaxy responded through Mpeli who was denied by the woodwork from the set piece in the 60th minute. Olomo Desire came on for Botsane and the Cameroonian did well to keep Galaxy defence busy. The game ended 1-0 in favour of Kick4Life.
