Kick4Life caused the big upset when they defeated Matlama 2-0 in the Econet Premier League match on Sunday at LCS grounds.
After going 6 games without a win and losing 3 matches in a row, Kick4Life were not the favourites against the high performing Matlama, but two second half goals by Norman Kumatse and Tseliso Botsane caused a stir at LCS grounds.
Matlama were leading the log table before this match and were looking to secure 3points to open the gap at the top. It was an exciting game with Kick4Life denying Matlama their usual play in the opening fifteen minutes.
Lebajoa Mosehlenyane made a fashioned turn in the box and fired at goals in the 24th minute. Motebang Sera also directed his header straight to the keeper in the 39th minute. Rethabile Mokokoane was shown a yellow card for a dangerous challenge on Lepekola Seetane just before the interval.
In the second half, Mokoteli Mohapi pulled a spectacular clearance to deny Matlama a goal in the 50th minute. Moments before the hour mark, Norman Kumatse was introduced and it took him only seven minutes to break the deadlock and give Kick4Life the lead.
Matlama responded through Mosehlenyane but the paced winger was disappointed to see his snap short missing the target in the 77th minute. Sera was again left frustrated when his header went straight into the keeper’s gloves.
With a minute to play, Tseliso Botsane put the final nail to the coffin as he caught Matlama napping at the back and released a powerful shot to make it 2-0. The win now puts the Old Europa charges at the ninth place, and will face Likhopo in their next encounter.
