Roger named Most Valuable Player
Kick4Life Academy graduate Thabo 'Roger' Mahlaha has been awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) by Freed-Hardeman University in the United States of America after his first season.
Rodger, who left for the US in August 2022, was awarded a fully funded academic and soccer scholarship at the university in Henderson, Tennessee, where he is studying Computer Science
Roger says: “I always feel like my achievements depict how much I’ve failed and was able to keep my head up, and seeing that mental attitude yielding results like this gives me hope and strength to keep on learning and improving my craft and performance, on my academics and soccer. And like I said when I first came here, the aim is to inspire hope throughout the people looking up to us as scholar-athletes, show them it’s possible to juggle books and football, like the people who’ve done it before us showed us, like Lesia, Senate, Mako, Queen, Morapeli, Ntate Lepe and Ntate Tšiu Moorosi. I’d like to thank my mom, my uncle, K4L, and Freed for all the support.”
