Nkoto Masoabi scored the winner as 10 men Kick4life edged Bantu 1-0 in the Econet Premier League on Saturday at Setsoto Stadium.

The visitors were dealt with a blow when centre back Likano Teele was given his marching orders for a dangerous tackle on Peter Maloisane in the first half.

Nevertheless the boys from Old Europa went on to claim the lead early in the second stanza, substitute Tseliso Ramafikeng producing something special with his excellent through pass to Masoabi who put the ball at the back of the net.

It was an exciting match with both sides showing great performances and it could have been Kick4Life who drew the first blood when Tsiu Moorosi’s header was dealt by the woodwork in the 7th minute. Debutant Tebello Ntene was enjoying his game and nearly found one in the 17th minute but his efforts missed slightly.

However, Litsepe Marabe made Bantu’s presence at Setsoto felt when he unleashed a rifle and went over the bar in the 32nd minute. Six minutes later, Kick4Life were reduced to 10men when Teele was shown a straight red card for a foul on Maloisane.

Realising that he was one man down, Leslie Notsi made a tactical change, brought in Ramafikeng in place of Ntene. Ramafikeng was to help with his mobility in the middle of the park and he did not disappoint as on his first touch, he played the ball to Masoabi who converted in the 47th minute.

Bantu responded on two threatening occasions, first with Hlompho Kalake missing with inches while in the box before Tsietsi Motseare was ruled offside after a good pass from Lazola Jokojokwane in the 48th and 50th minutes respectively.

Bantu were now mounting pressure in search for a goal and James Madidilane brought in Lehlohonolo Fothoane and Mokone Marabe. Fothoane’s header landed on the roofing of the net in the 68th minute.

When Notsi realised that Bantu were now sending more troops forward, he sacrificed a striker for a defender, Seidu Kassum came on for Masoabi. With 14 minutes to play, Kassum did well to put his foot on Maloisane’s shot to block it away.

Kick4Life held on to the final whistle and became the first Premier League club to claim victory over defending champions. The win takes K4L to 8 points, pending the decision from the Premier League Managing Committee due to Sandawana situation.
