Mosa Mokhanya, a key player for Kick4Life’s Senior Women’s team, has recently been called up to the national team for the first time, with the defender’s outstanding performances in the previous season of the Lesotho Women’s Super League, showcasing her development and talent in football.
But it is not only on the pitch that Mosa is making great strides, and through Kick4Life’s Fit4WorkAndPlay Programme, which supports our players in developing their wider employability, she is also training as a chef at our social enterprise restaurant, No.7.
Mosa said: “Kick4Life has made a huge difference in my life. Although I initially lacked qualifications and job experience, the organization provided me with opportunities to take online courses that enhanced my CV. Through its programs, I gained self-respect, self-awareness, and learned how to present myself professionally. When I first joined Kick4Life, I was very young and already the primary breadwinner for my family. The Fit4WorkAndPlay program allowed me to gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry, both Front of House and Back of House, and the stipends enabled me to improve my family’s situation by providing food and support. Additionally, programs like Girls United are helping me become an active community member and a role model, earning respect from my peers and younger people in my community.”
Kick4Life Co-founder, Steve Fleming, said: “With a passion for both football and culinary arts, these twin opportunities are helping Mosa to develop new skills which will enable her to realise her potential in all areas of life, as well as making a meaningful contribution to the local community. We look forward to seeing her continued success and development on and off the pitch.”
