The construction of the new ‘Kick4Life Gymnasium’ is well underway with K4L Coaches – Mpho and Teboho – also nearing the end of their training as fitness and gym instructors.
The Kick4Life Gymnasium has been enabled with support from SESLA – The Sport for Education and Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa initiative, supported by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Agence Française de Développement (AFD). #Olympism365

We are now seeking additional partners and funding to help us develop this unique facility – constructed from 4 shipping containers – into a thriving social enterprise, with the following aims:
- To generate sustainable income to support our Sport for Good programmes.
- To provide employment and training for more young people like Mpho and Teboho.
- To provide all of our staff with access to the facility, promoting their health and wellbeing.
- To run fitness sessions for disadvantaged and marginalised community groups including vulnerable girls and older people.
Teboho said: “As a trainee gym instructor, I am gaining hands-on skills in personal training and fitness education. This new project gives me real experience and the confidence to grow in this industry. I am feeling excited because fitness is something I am passionate about.”
Mpho added: “I’m learning so much from the course, from gym management to customer service and retention, as well as programming for different kinds of clients with different goals”.
K4L Acting Country Director, Rose Mabathoana said: “This is such a great initiative that will complement our existing social enterprises – Hokahanya Inn & No.7 Restaurant – as well as benefitting many people in the Kick4Life community, including young leaders like Mpho and Teboho, our staff and people in the local area. We are now seeking funding to fully equip the gym and to add an open-air top floor that will be used for classes such as yoga and pilates.”.
