Kick4Life visited the Kao Mine in the district of Butha Buthe on Friday 21st June to deliver academic, life-skills and football sessions for children and young people in the local community, as part of a new partnership with Storm Mountain Diamonds (SMD).
The day began with a classroom session delivered by Kick4Life’s Academy Coordinator, Likhapha Khemi, focused on exploring and developing skills such as critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and communication. The sessions also covered Lesotho’s history and current affairs, as well as exploring challenges that the participants face in their daily lives, developing an understanding of the support they need to achieve their potential in different areas of life.
This was followed by a session on the football field delivered by Kick4Life’s coaching team including Senior Women’s Coach, Elizabeth Yelimala, Soccer Schools & Junior Women’s Coach, Kamohelo Makateng, and Youth Coach, Molefi Katane. The session included a number of drills and games which introduced the participants to different football skills and techniques.
At the end of the day, Storm Mountain Diamonds thanked Kick4Life for visiting Kao and for their charitable work empowering youth through football across the country, with both parties look forward to a long-term partnership that will benefit the lives of children and youth in the local community.
