K4L Shines at Legacy Cup as Women finish second

Kick4Life’s Women’s and Men’s teams proudly represented Lesotho at the Legacy Tournament held from 11th to 13th July at the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa — and it was a memorable outing, with the Women’s side, who finished second overall, bringing home silver medals.

Kick4Life Women’s team opened their tournament with a 2-1 victory over the hosts, University of the Free State (Kovsie Ladies FC) on Friday. On Saturday, they continued their impressive form with a 3-1 win against Sol Plaatje University, after a last-minute withdrawal by Central University of Technology caused a reshuffle in the fixture schedule.

With two wins from two, the team advanced to the semi-finals on Sunday morning where they faced familiar competition in the form of the Lesotho National Under-20 Women’s team (Likhosatsana). Kick4Life once again delivered a solid performance, defeating the U20 side 3-1 to book their place in the final.

In the championship match on Sunday afternoon, Kick4Life came up against a formidable opponent — University of the Western Cape Ladies FC, reigning champions and a club competing in South Africa’s top elite league. Despite a valiant effort, Kick4Life fell 2-0 in the final, earning a proud second-place finish in a competitive international tournament.

The men’s team, Kick4Life Juventude, participated in two friendly matches on Saturday. Although the results didn’t go their way — a 2-0 loss to UFS and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Marumo Gallants DDC — the games provided crucial off-season match experience and a chance to test their depth against quality South African opposition.

The Legacy Tournament once again proved to be more than just a competition — it was a platform for skill development, exposure, and preparation for future challenges. For Kick4Life Women, fresh off their 2024/25 Lesotho Women’s Super League title win, the tournament showcased their readiness to compete at higher levels.

Both teams return home enriched with experience, pride, and renewed motivation — another step forward in Kick4Life’s mission to empower youth and drive change through the beautiful game.
