K4L players graduate from Champions United

Kick4Life has delivered gender education programming to 25 players from its senior men’s team. The Champions United curriculum was delivered at the Kick4Life Centre to the ‘Juventude’ squad between July 22nd to August 8th, using sports-based activities to empower the participants with knowledge about gender rights as well as challenging gender discrimination and preventing violence against women and girls.

The 10-session course also focused on developing important transferable life skills, such as self-esteem, conflict management, resilience, communication and teamwork, as well as exploring themes related to healthy living including diet, exercise and sexual health.

The 25 graduates were congratulated and awarded certificates by Kick4Life’s Country Director, Motlatsi Nkhahle, Community Programmes Director, Maphoka Ramokoatsi, and HR & Operations Director, Rose Mabathoana. Mr. Nkhahle, thanked them for understanding the importance of attending the sessions because they were specifically designed to help them become better men and leaders in the future. He encouraged them to spread the knowledge they have acquired in their communities and to invite their peers to participate in future courses.

Upon completing the course, Seeiso Seeiso, a defender, thanked Kick4Life for empowering them with training that helps them, not only to become better football players, but also to turn them into positive members of the community. Thuso Khoarane, a winger, added that the course helped to, “enhance my knowledge and understanding of gender rights, gender equality, HIV prevention, as well as inclusivity and non-discrimination”.
