Kick4Life’s Fit4Work&Play supports our players in developing their work experience and employability skills. Today we are featuring Senior Women’s Team player, Puseleteso Jobo.
Puseletso loves scoring goals. In her debut season for Kick4Life in 2022/23 she was top scorer in the Lesotho Women’s Super League, a feat which led to her being voted the Fans’ Favourite Player at the ‘Ladies in a Men Dominated Game Awards’. As well as achieving individual accolades, Jobo is very much a team player and a leader, and she is working hard to further develop these and other transferable skills, which are important on and off the pitch.
Through Kick4Life’s Fit4Work&Play programme, Puseletso is also an Administrative Assistant Trainee for the organisation’s hospitality social enterprises, helping her to gain useful administrative skills and professional work experience which are broadening her future career options.
She says: “Growing up, I’ve always been interested in addressing social problems and being a catalyst for social change. Therefore, it really does not surprise me that I am where I am today. Kick4Life has helped me in all aspects of my life: professionally, personally, and spiritually. I joined Kick4Life after graduating from the National University of Lesotho, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration. In the classroom, I learned the theory, but K4L gave me a chance to gain real life experience, working in an office environment. I am also a character development facilitator in the Kick4Life Academy and a life skills coach for Kick4Life’s Girls United program, which aims to empower girls and young women with sexual and reproductive health education, knowledge of their rights and skills to safely uphold them. As a career-driven athlete who intends to engage in sports beyond just being a player, I am proud to say Kick4Life has given me a taste of my dream, and through the Fit4Work&Play programme, I have been given the opportunity to work towards achieving my goals and reaching my academic and athletic potential.”
Kick4Life’s Country Director, Mr. Motlatsi Nkhahle, added: “As we continue to apply concerted effort in ensuring that every Kick4Life participant becomes ‘more than a player’ by embodying positive core values, cherishing service-mindedness, and developing a strong growth mindset, we are thrilled to support Puseletso and so many other Basotho youth on this transformational journey.”
